AHEM, AHEM...

Now this is not an insult to the nursing profession per se (maybe only slightly). Nor is this an insult to the nurses out there (okay, only to the really pissy ones and the ones that think they know EVERYTHING). This is more of a declaration of disgust to our choice of a career. What the hell, I mean really, what the hell were we thinking?!

Nursing IS SHIT!!!... People cannot comment unless they have at least tried the profession (CLINICALS DO NOT COUNT)... try going into work everyday, doing exactly what you were told to do, (and learnt in school), not make any mistakes, be extremely courteous, and still get kicked, punched, spat at, bit, urine/feces either spilled (by someone else) or thrown on you. Not to mention the constant yelling (directed in your face)by either ignorant assholes who have no idea what they are talking about (you know the ones..they research everything from google, and immediately its the end of the world)...Family members who think their loved one is the only god damn person in the world, and decide to follow you around asking a million fucking stupid common-sense questions, or treating you like your their doctor. Not to mention, if you are charge nurse (like myself), staffing issues (already short-staffed, but retards decide to call-in sick 15 mins before their shift, unable to replace them.) Plus the fact we cannot leave unless our replacement has arrived. I have had to work over 20 hours straight, then come right back the next day. Unlike other professions, we cannot yell back in their faces, only take it, give our reply and walk away.
I was once accused of abusing a lady (bruising her arm), whom I hadn't even met. Her retard son believed her and called me directrly, and then the police. I was told just they have thrown the case out (by the cops) because he has done this before to others, and it was all found to be fraudulent. The lady later admitted to several co-workers that she had done it to herself earlier in the week. All she wanted was for us to drop everything and come to her for the 10th time in less than an hour. I feel bad for nursing students... they may be happy now, but just wait till they get to the real world, where there is no clinical teacher to say "oh that resident is too heavy, choose a different one for you"
It took me 2 years to get this far, and I have been working for 3. I'm just waiting to be able to afford school again. I always laugh when people in school say they like nursing.... JUST WAIT hahaha One (1st yr) student told me she would never walk away or tell a pt off because she cares too much LOL..
